Pediatric osteopathy
Osteopathy for babies and children
Kendra has specialized training and experience treating newborns, babies and children. Her gentle approach has helped with colic and regurgitation problems, pain and fussiness, motor problems, torticollis and asymmetrical skulls.

How can it help?
Babies are undergoing constant development that will determine their motor and neurological patterns through childhood and adulthood. Musculoskeletal or neurological blockages may delay key developmental phases such as sitting, crawling, walking and fine motor skills.
Ensuring that everything is aligned and functioning from the beginning is so important! Osteopathy can identify impediments and gently restore mobility.
Skull and brain development
The infant skull undergoes considerable compression during childbirth, sometimes affecting nerves or the symmetry of the skull. Compression of cranial nerves can contribute to problems such as:
-
torticollis, spasms or weakness in neck muscles.
-
difficulty with mouth, tongue or swallowing muscles resulting in feeding problems.
-
Digestive problems, regurgitation.

Cranial asymmetry can contribute to future problems such as otitis, chronic sinusitis, headaches and migraines. It can also contribute to occlusion problems with the teeth and jaw, resulting in the need for expensive orthodontics years later.

While osteopathy is not a cure, its aim is to optimize cranial symmetry and reduce compression. This can improve blood supply and drainage of the brain and support neuron health, and neurotransmitter, hormonal and emotional balance.

Catching these problems early and addressing them while the skull and skeleton are still malleable may help reduce future problems!
Osteopathy cannot cure medical issues (it is always important to consult with your pediatrician first!) it is, however, a gentle, safe and natural complement to medical treatment.
